Very cool – a different perspective one might say.

same old same old, follow the trail – digital, online, websites, blogs, social networks, twitter, blah blah. but nothing changes.

probably worth watching for those who believe social networks are the future. Obivously not me then.
strange how Andreessen seems to believe that they are here to stay and nowhere near their potential. Social networking as such, between humans, is definitely the future, but the socnet platforms? I hope not! Give me distributed networks and user-driven tools to build them. -
so it's sonar mapping, not Atlantis. sounds more likely.

Fascinating. wonder what it is…

this is bad, really bad, in terms of report and science, which is appallingly off the mark. social web is about ability to drive your own identity, rather than settle for the one defined by third parties, invariably authorities. that's why people like Oliver James attack it as being 'weak identity' – it's the opposite, a different kind of identity entirely and one that threatens their little worlds.

"With exquisite irony, while central planning had been largely discredited at macroeconomic level, at microeconomic level it remained alive and kicking – in their own organisations." Agree with the article from this point onward, before that it's just the usual drivel about capitalism and related matters.

absolutely! that is why I militate against platform that are in effect silos for our stuff. sharing is good, but there is difference between my FRIENDS having a copy of message or photos we exchange and FACEBOOK having it for perpetuity. This highlights the problem with 3rd parties as silos.

this is suprisingly good article on Web 2.0 in the enterprise, given that I have given up on McKinsey ever getting this, what with their obsession with processes and ROI models.

fascinating!

good deconstruction of the strawman argument by Graham Hill against VRM. Rather silly question at the end about wheather VRM makes money. Frankly, I don't give a damn. If the same question mattered with regard to the internet/web/blogging etc etc, we wouldn't be here discussing VRM in the first place.

We’re not customers and we’re certainly not consumers. We’re users. We don’t consume content, we use it, and mostly what we use it for is to support our conversations with one another, because we’re media outlets now too.
