expected this. rewards for being yourself and stop having different persona are greater than ability to present different aspects to different audiences. this only works if you are in charge of your own privacy though and we are not there yet.

not bad. interesting how people will look at everything and anything before they look at the individual and how the web changes the balance of power and contributes to his autonomy. oh well.

Social web & tools
Filed Under Social web, Tools and applications, Events | 6 Comments
Earlier this week I did two sessions (workshops only in the name as there was a stage and audience) at Online Marketing & Media08 show at Business Design Center in London. Here are a few slides that I used to introduce the workshop before I went into a more practical demonstration of the tools themselves.

Social gaffes
Filed Under Social web, Advertising, Marketing, Weblogs | 1 Comment
Tomorrow I am chairing a lightweight panel about ’social gaffes’ at the New Media Age Online Marketing show, i.e. talking about examples of brand, marketing and advertising forrays into the social media/web with unfortunate consequences. There are many more examples that I found but here is a few slide I prepared earlier.

excellent summary of the AP vs bloggers affairs. “If its core business is to repackage the news, they’re in as much trouble as every other middleman on the web.”
-
this would not have been available and accessible before the internet and blogs. now I am distributing another aspect/side of the story which is turning out to be entirely different to what the media reported.

some numbers about social web. never cared much but for some of my clients’ internal evangelising it opens the door.

“Instead of conversations taking place at the convenience of the initiator, IM allows genuine social negotiation about whether and when to talk.”
