Instant technology success

An interesting article in Wired about Hollywood’s new weapon in career networking – instant messanger.

Movie producers, directors, actors and crew workers bouncing from one
job to the next have traditionally relied on agents and Rolodexes for
finding their next gigs. But these days, many are discovering it’s
easier to post their job availability on IM.

Instead of displaying simple "away from my computer" messages,
Hollywood buddy lists now overflow with come-ons, from "need work" to
"wrapping up shoot." Producers hiring for a new production can tell at
a glance who’s available now, who’s not and who might be free in the
near future.

Hollywood is one large continuous project management, so it makes sense that a real time, availability signalling, web-based tool catches on. A take-up of any technology, no matter how clever, sophisticated, and innovative, depends on the benefits it brings to the individual user. If it helps them do something that they are already doing better, simplify the current process of getting something done or introduces new ways of getting to their objectives, that is a fairly reliable test of whether an application or a technology will be successful.

Hey just wondering if any one could suggest a good torrent downloader. Preferable free but if reasonable and speedy with massive storage I would consider a paid service.

Not sure there are downloaders with storage but a good one is Azureus, now called Vuze, or Transmission. Both are free and have good functionality.
