Alright, the very first post went fine and now we have a picture up on the blog. Hm, I’d better explain myself then.
Why did I choose the name (arrogant as it may sound) Media Influencer for my weblog? Well, this blog would not exist if not for a company called Fjord who invited me to be part of a Lifeblog ‘experience’ trial. I was given a fancy Nokia with Lifeblog application on it as well as on my computer and asked to use it for a month. The reason I am part of this ‘trial’ is that Tomi Ahonen has suggested that I be included into the list of ‘media influencers’. So when I was thinking of a name for my blog, the only thing that I could think of was that I am doing this because someone, somewhere thought I could influence some media.
Well, I do think blogs are media. Very different from what people currently understand by media but nevertheless are in some way redefining the media landscape and definition. To what extent remains to be seen but blogging has already spurred some interesting developments, for example, the whole debate about journalism vs blogs (Which, by the way, is a complete non-issue but I guess people need to frame topics in the form of a controversy).
Then there is PR, marketing and branding and blogs – a development which is one of the reasons why Nokia is trying to promote Lifeblog the way it is… and the fact that it is teamed up with Typepad.
Let’s see how it goes.
